๐ŸŒค WEEK 1: Summer is Here. See What's Trending ๐Ÿ™Œ

Hey Reader,

Long time no see โ€“ Khoi here!

We're back at it again with Gent Within's Style Dispatch: week 1 of 4 on transitioning from spring to summer.

This summer's vibe is elevated comfort with outfits that look intentional without trying too hard.

This week, I'll touch on 3 trending styles to carry you confidently (and comfortably) into summer.

๐Ÿ‘• 1. Camp collar // Resort shirts

These summer stalwarts are going strong for the transition. Opt for short sleeve, open collar, lightweight cotton or linen-viscose blends for those casual cool vibes.

These shirts work buttoned over a tee, solo, or under a blazer.. and they're the easiest way to look put-together without looking too dressed up this summer.

๐Ÿ‘– 2. Mixing proportions

Proportion-mixing is the easiest "trend" to actually pull off.

Pairing something fitted with something loose (a slim polo sweater with wider trousers, or a relaxed shirt with straighter jeans) rather than going uniformly slim or uniformly oversized.

It reads as more deliberate than just defaulting to one silhouette.

A slightly more fitted knit polo or fine-gauge crewneck (short sleeve, breathable) tucked into straighter trousers works here. Not jeans, but a soft cotton or linen-blend trouser with derbies or clean leather loafers.

Add one color accent if you're feeling bold, but I always prefer more of a monochromatic look.

A quick rule of thumb: keep one half of your outfit fitted and the other relaxed, stick to one accent color max if you're adding one, and don't double up on "casual" or "dressy" pieces in the same look.

๐Ÿ‘ž 3. Loafers over sneakers

Footwear is shifting away from sneakers as the default.

Loafers have become a dominant menswear trend this summer, leading the shift away from sneakers as the everyday default for guys who want their outfit to look more finished.

What I see gaining traction right now leans softer, slightly chunkier, and more tactile.. think suede in brown, taupe, and stone. These are the most wearable, season-appropriate options, while bit loafers with heavier soles are leading the pack

๐Ÿ‘‰ Fit tip: your toes should have a little room, and for suede styles in particular, size true to your usual sneaker size rather than going down a size like some dress shoe brands suggest.

Loafer recommendations (at various price points):

โ€‹G.H. Bass (Weejuns) - $195 - the G.H. Bass penny loafer is still considered the benchmark, clean and versatile enough to work with tailoring, denim, linen, or shorts.

โ€‹Sebago Dan Boat Roughout - $195 - another classic American brand, slightly more rugged construction than Bass, often a bit more durable for everyday wear. A good step-up option if you want something that'll hold up over a few summers.
